NJ Department of Labor Tuition Waiver Program

Visiting Student

Program Overview

This program enables eligible unemployed students to enroll, tuition-free, when vacant seats are available, in an appropriate course of instruction at public colleges and universities in New Jersey that will provide them with identifiable skills leading to gainful reemployment. The student and a One Stop Career Center Counselor jointly develop a course of instruction identified in an Employability Development Plan (EDP).  Eligible students must secure an “Unemployed Person Job Training Form – Tuition Waiver" from their One Stop Career Center Counselor before each semester or session.  Interested students should contact their local One-Stop Career Center to learn more.

Every participating institution prepares its own policy to govern the process of maintaining this valuable resource for our state's unemployed population.  The Rutgers University's Tuition Waiver Policy is available here
