Writing Intensive.

This course will explore the moral, legal, political, and religious implications of the death penalty.  From narratives of death row inmates to recent legislation and debate, "Exploring the Death Penalty" will situate students within this topical issue.  Course material will include short stories, poetry, articles, and films which offer perspectives on this controversial topic.  This is a writing intensive course that will also fulfill elective credits.

This course offers an opportunity for students to build business communication skills while taking into consideration the demands of a globalizing workforce and international corporate culture.  Analysis of and practice in workplace writing, organizational communication, reporting and presenting will be supplemented with investigations into diverse cultural perspectives and international issues in business.  This is a writing intensive course.

Writing Intensive.

This intensive writing course will sharpen the critical thinking processes vital to gathering and presenting business data. Research has become more important in the business world, increasingly used to improve decision-making and to formulate new strategies.  The course provides an understanding of the value and limitations of business research.  Students will be introduced to some key research methods and design issues.  Major topics covered include problem identification, research design, data collection methods, sample design, data analysis and interpretation, report preparation, and the ethics of business research.

Writing Intensive.

From speech to double-speak, advertisements to propaganda, Lincoln to Hitler, Aristotle to Orwell, this writing intensive course will explore the reality that every day we are bombarded with different types of arguments, both innocuous and dangerous. The course will identify rhetorical techniques of argument; how to analyze the hidden messages of an argument, and how to formulate one's own argument. Texts of all kinds will be examined, both fiction and non-fiction.

Writing Intensive.

This intensive writing course focuses on the types of documents one can expect to encounter in most business situations.  Communication is vital to business success.  Students will learn to prepare the proper document for the appropriate audience.  To that end, we will plan and write a variety of letters, memos, reports, and proposals. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, students will walk out of the classroom and into the boardroom fully prepared to make their mark upon the business community.
