This course will examine a range of methodologies and case studies for engaging the public sphere through the arts. Case studies of artists who devise and adapt their work from oral history, ethnography, community-based research and civic dialogue will constitute the basis for assessing the arts as a forum for civic engagement and a form of public scholarship.
