CERTIFICATE IN PORTUGUESE & LUSOPHONE WORLD STUDIES

The Summer Institute Certificate Program in Portuguese & Lusophone World Studies offers four classes--two sequential semesters in elementary Portuguese language and two classes in Portuguese literature (conducted in English). The Certificate in Beginners Portuguese & Lusophone World Studies is awarded to those students who successfully complete the three required courses, two courses in language and one in literature. Please check course descriptions carefully for prerequisites.

Required Courses (only one of the two literature classes is required):

Elementary Portuguese Language I
Elementary Portuguese Language II
Portuguese Literature in English Translation I or

The Institute offers students a dynamic classroom experience with seasoned Rutgers University faculty. Each Summer Institute course is three credits and counts toward the completion of the Portuguese Studies minor and other undergraduate degrees at Rutgers-Newark and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
