Computer Accounts

All Summer Session students are required to have access to an e-mail, internet account, and a Rutgers University NetID. You may open a Rutgers-Newark computing account by going to the following web site, http://www.ncs.rutgers.edu/ncs/tools.html, and following the instructions below:

Under Pegasus Accounts, click on the first bullet: Create a Pegasus Account

Once you have clicked on the link, a dialogue box will appear similar to the following:

Click OK.

Take a brief moment to read the Acceptable User Policy and click Accept.

Using the drop down menu for the category reading "Choose Account type," select summer_student:

Once you have filled in all four remaining categories, click the CreateAccount button.

If you receive an error message only, such as the following:

You do not have all the roles required for account type summer_student

Otherwise, you will proceed to the next step:

The system will generate a list of suggestions for a NetID. You are not required to pick any of the suggested names.

Once you have determined your NetID, type it in the Enter Username category.

When choosing your password please make sure to keep it between 6 - 8 total characters and a combination of 3 character classes. The four valid forms of a character class are as follows: capital letter, lowercase letter, number or symbol. eg: Abc123 or abc%123.

Once all three categories have been filled, click CreateUsername.

* NOTE: The message below indicates you have successfully created your NetID. If you receive an error message along with the following message, please disregard.
