Microcomputer-based course that provides a comprehensive understanding of computer systems and application software. Hands-on approach to learning widely used spreadsheets, databases, word processors and presentation application software and Internet tools. The course reviews basic knowledge of these applications and proceeds to more advanced features, among others:

Spreadsheets: worksheets & toolbars, multiple worksheet books, automatic calculations, creating a series and auto-fill, specific formulas or functions, edit paste special menu and shortcuts, Excel efficiency, relative and absolute positioning (addressing), auditing tool bar, conditional formatting, function wizard, IF function, working with text, sensitivity analysis: renaming cells and ranges, goal seek, linking the data to the chart, adding data to the chart after it is ready, instant charts, regression formulas on the chart, statistical functions, filters, forms validation and pivot tables.

Word Processing: generating form letters, mailing labels, envelopes and directories, creating a professional newsletter, managing different versions and revisions, securing/protecting documents, integration feature: linking an Excel worksheet and charting its data in Word, creating documents with a table, chart, and watermark, inserting objects to Word documents, web feature; creating web pages using Word.

Database Management: creating a database using design and data sheet views, querying a database using the select query window, maintaining a database using the design and update database, data searches utilizing different data filters, custom reports, forms, and combo boxes.
